אקסוקתקציה
אֶקְסוֹקֶתֶקְצְיָה (וכן אקסו; באנגלית: Exocathection) הוא מונח בפסיכולוגיה המתאר מצב של הטען חיובי (קתקסיס) והפניית האנרגיה ליבידינלית של אדם אל פעילותיו החיצוניות, כמו אל עסקים כלכליים ואל התרחשויות חברתיות או פוליטיות; ניתן להגדיר מונח זה כמתאר מצב של נסיגה מהחיים התאורטיים ונטייה חזקה לעסוק בחיים המעשיים. מונח זה הוא הפכו של המונח אֶנְדוֹקֶתֶקְצְיָה.
היסטוריה ואטימולוגיה של המונח
את המונח אֶקְסוֹקֶתֶקְצְיָה טבע הפסיכולוג האמריקני הנרי מארי (1893-1988 Henry Alexander Murray) בספרו "חקירות של אישיות" (Explorations in Personality) שיצא לאור בשנת 1938[1].
Exocathection: the positive cathection of practical action and co-operative undertakings. A preoccupation with outer events: economic, political, or social occurrences. A strong inclination to participate in the contemporary world of affairs[2]
המונח נבנה בשפה האנגלית (התחילית: exo + המילה cathexis > cathection) אך האטימולוגיה של המילה היא מיוונית שבה המשמעות המילולית של השם אֶקְסוֹקֶתֶקְצְיָה (κάθεξις+ ἔξω) היא אחיזה חיצונית.
