ג'רמי ברנשטיין
ג'רמי ברנשטיין (באנגלית: Jeremy Bernstein;נולד ב-31 בדצמבר 1929) הוא פיזיקאי, מחנך וסופר מדע פופולרי אמריקאי.
נולד ברוצ'סטר שבניו יורק למשפחה יהודית שהיגרה מליטא לארצות הברית בסוף המאה ה-19. אמו הייתה סופי רובין, ואביו, פיליפ ס. ברנשטיין, היה רב הקהילה הרפורמית "ברית קודש" ברוצ'סטר במשך 46 שנים. פיליפ עשה את עבודת המאסטר שלו על ירמיהו, במכון היהודי לדת (כיום חלק מהיברו יוניון קולג'), ומכאן שמו של בנו הראשון, ג'רמי.
ברנשטיין עשה את לימודיו באוניברסיטת הרווארד, שם סיים תואר ראשון ב-1951, תואר שני ב-1953, וב-1955 סיים את עבודת הדוקטורט שלו בפיזיקה, בנושא "התכונות האלקטרומגנטיות של דאוטריום". הוא הועסק בציקלוטרון בהרווארד ובשנת 1957 הוא עבד בקיץ כמתמחה בלוס אלמוס ובשנתיים אחר כך עסק בפיתוח נשק אטומי. אחר כך עבד במכון למחקר מתקדם בפרינסטון. בשנת 1962 התמנה לפרופסור חבר לפיזיקה באוניברסיטת ניו יורק. ובשנת 1967 התמנה לפרופסור ב-Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken בניו ג'רזי עד לשנת 1993. הוא סגן הנשיא של חבר הנאמנים של "Aspen Center for Physics". כמו כן עבד במכון החלקיקים בCERN. ולימד כפרופסור אורח באקול פוליטכניק בצרפת, באוניברסיטת רוקפלר, באוניברסיטת פרינסטון, אוקספורד ובאוניברסיטת איסלמבד בפקיסטן.
עוסק במשך השנים בכתיבת מדע פופולרי וחקר ההיסטוריה של המדע והטכנולוגיה, ופרסם עשרות ספרים בנושאים אלה. הוא כתב בעבור מגזין הניו יורקר משנת 1963 ועד שנת 1993 וכתב טור בשם “Out of My Mind” בעבור המגזין "The American Scholar". כתב ספרי לימוד בפיזיקה, ובנוסף ספרי מדע פופולרי על איינשטיין, קוסמולוגיה, וגבולות הפיזיקה, בנוסף, כתב על טיולי הרים בהימלאיה ועל מושל הודו הבריטית הראשון, וורן הייסטינגס.
