פיטר טמין
פיטר טמין (אנגלית: Peter Temin; ב-17 בדצמבר 1937) הוא כלכלן והיסטוריון כלכלי יהודי אמריקאי, המשמש כפרופסור במחלקה לכלכלה ב-MIT.
אודות
טמין נולד בשנת 1937 בפילדלפיה למשפחה יהודית. הוא סיים תואר ראשון בכלכלה בהצטיינות מ- Swarthmore College בשנת 1959 ואחר כך השלים תואר דוקטור בכלכלה באוניברסיטת MIT בשנת 1964. הוא לימד בMIT, בשנת 1967 מונה לפרופסור חבר, בשנת 1970 מונה לפרופסור מן המניין, בין השנים 1985 ל-1986 לימד באוניברסיטת קיימברידג', בין השנים 1990 ל-1993 עמד בראש המחלקה לכלכלה ב-MIT, ובשנת 1993 מונה כ-Elisha Gray II Professor of Economics. בשנת 2002 הוענקה לו מלגת גוגנהיים. בשנת 2009 יצא לגמלאות.
הוא תרם תרומה משמעותית להבנה הכלכלית של התקופה שבין מלחמות העולם ותפקידו של תקן הזהב. בשנת 1999 הוא פרסם ספר על תפקיד האליטות בכלכלה שכתב ביחד עם אליס ברזיס.
הוא אחיו של הווארד טמין, גנטיקאי חתן פרס נובל לרפואה לשנת 1975.
