צבא תצפית הוא גוף צבאי שמטרתו לפקח על אזור נתון[1] או גוף אויב לקראת פעולות איבה אפשריות בין הצדדים.
כמה מצבאות התצפית הבולטים יותר כוללים:
- ארמיית תצפית המילואים השלישית, ארמייה רוסית שהוטל עליה לפקח על הגבול האוסטרי בשנת 1811 לפני הפלישה הצרפתית לרוסיה
- צבא התצפית בפורט ג'סופ, לואיזיאנה, ארצות הברית, אשר עקב אחר המעבר של טקסס משליטה ספרדית למקסיקנית, ולעצמאות בסופו של דבר
- צבא התצפית של הנובר שפיקח על הגבול לפני הפלישה הצרפתית להנובר ב-1757
