אנדראס מאלם (נולד בשנת 1976/1977)[1] הוא סופר שוודי[2] ומרצה בכיר לאקולוגיה אנושית באוניברסיטת לונד.[3][4] הוא חבר מערכת של כתב העת האקדמי Historical Materialism,[5] ותואר כמרקסיסט.[6] נעמי קליין, שציטטה את מאלם בספרה משנת 2014 "This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. The Climate", מתארת את מאלם כ"אחד ההוגים המקוריים ביותר" בנושא התחממות העולמית.[7]
קריירה
בשנת 2010 הצטרף מלאם למפלגה הטרוצקאית "Socialistiska Partiet" (אנ'). הוא היה בקשר עם המפלגה מאז השתתף במחנה קיץ שניהלו בשנת 1997[8]
בשנת 2012, הגן מאלם על התזה שלו (שלימים עובדה לספרו Fossil Capital) כדי להשיג תואר דוקטור מאוניברסיטת לונד.[9][10]
מאלם חיבר כמה ספרים והוא תורם למגזין ג'ייקובין.[3] בספרו How to Blow Up a Pipeline: Learning to Fight in a World on Fire (כיצד לפוצץ צינור: ללמוד להילחם בעולם בוער), הוא טען כי סבוטז' ונזק לרכוש יהוו מרכיב הגיוני בתנועה נגד התחממות האקלים.[11]
במאמר שפורסם במאי 2021 בגרדיאן כתב ברט כריסטופרס כי מחקר של מאלם מציע כי יצרנים במהלך המהפכה התעשייתית עברו מכוח מים לאדים לא מפני שהקיטור היה זול יותר אלא מפני שהוא היה רווחי יותר. בפרט, אדים אפשרו למנועים להיות ממוקמים ליד עבודה זולה ולא להיות כבולים לנתיבי מים מתאימים.[12]
