דרימר הנהיג קבוצה של 26 אינטלקטואלים רומנים שייסדו ב-1990 את האוניברסיטה האקולוגית של בוקרשט.
דרימר הוא אחד משלישיית נשיאי המפלגה הירוקה של רומניה.
במשך 25 שנים היה דרימר חבר בנבחרת השחמט הלאומית של רומניה. הוא השתתף בארבע אולימפיאדות שחמט והגיע לדרגת אמן בינלאומי.
דרימר הושעה מניהול האוניברסיטה האקולוגית בעקבות שערורייה בה הייתה מעורבת שלוחה של האוניברסיטה, שמכרה תעודות הסמכה במיליון דולרים.
