ויינלנדאנגלית: Vineland) היא עיר בניו ג'רזי, ארצות הברית. בשנת 2020 התגוררו בעיר למעלה מ-60,000 תושבים, מה שהופך אותה לעיר ה-24 בגודלה במדינה, וה-636 בגודלה בארצות הברית.

הרומן "Unsheltered" מ-2018 של בברברה קינגסולבר מתרחש בעיר.[1]

היסטוריה

האדמות באזור (כ-200 קמ"ר בתחילה) נקנו על ידי צ'ארלס ק. לנדיס באמצע המאה ה-19. ב-1862 נחנכו הבתים הראשונים וכן קו רכבת לפילדלפיה ולעיר ניו יורק. ב-1865 התגררו בויינלנד כ-5,500 תושבים, ומספר זה הכפיל עצמו תוך עשור.[2][3] בתחילתה, העיר התאפיינה בתעשיית ענבים, ייונות וביצים ענפה.

בויינלנד הוקם בית הספר הראשון בניו ג'רזי לבעלי מוגבלות שכלית-התפתחותית.

עיריית ויינלנד הוקמה ב-1 ביולי 1952, באמצעות מיזוג של שתי עיירות ובהתבסס על תוצאות משאל עם שנערך בהן ב-5 בפברואר באותה השנה.[4][5][6]

גאוגרפיה

שטח העיר הוא כ-178.68 קילומטרים רבועים, מה שהופך את ויינלנד לאחת הערים הגדולות בשטחה במדינה. העיר ממוקמת בערך כ-38 מיל (61 קילומטרים) מהאוקיינוס האטלנטי.

דמוגרפיה

וויינלנד מאופיינת בקהילה מגוונת המורכבת ממגוון גזעים.

ההכנסה החציונית לנפש בעיר הייתה 24,512 דולר, לעומת 54,024 דולר למשק בית ו-64,185 דולר למשפחה. ההכנסה החציונית לגברים היא 48,974 דולר, לעומת 35,513 דולר לנשים. כ-11% מהמשפחות ו-12.8% מהאוכלוסייה היו מתחת לקו העוני, כולל 19% מאלו שמתחת לגיל 18 ו-9.1% מבני 65 ומעלה.[7]

פוליטיקה וממשל

וויינלנד מנוהלת באמצעות ראש עיר ומועצה בת חמישה חברים. ראש העיר והמועצה נבחרים לכהונה של כארבע שנים בבחירות לא מפלגתיות.[19][20]

וויינלנד ממוקמת במחוז הקונגרס השני[21] המיוצג על ידי הרפובליקני ג'ף ואן דרו. במרץ 2011, היו כ-37,583 מצביעים רשומים בוויינלנד, מתוכם 10,388 (27.6%) היו דמוקרטים, 6,109 (16.3%) רפובליקנים ו-21,059 (56.0%) לא היו רשומים לאף מפלגה. כ-27 תושבים היו רשומים למפלגות אחרות.[22]
